Want to Blog Live from an Event?

I have always enjoyed every bit of the blog item of one of my mentors and colleague blogger (Mac-Jordan). I was flummoxed when I read him out “I won’t call myself a PRO in this New Media field yet as I’m still learning from my mentors (Erik Hersman, Jillian C. York & Ethan Zuckerman”. I told myself I had a lot to learn then.

I had a fair idea on how to disseminate information on the spot from events on to social media and get buddies reading, I’m known for doing that on Facebook via SnaptÜ –‘NOW-NOW-NOW’, yeah, you read right, that’s what I call it. I’m still trying to find my way around twitter- but I’ve been able to master hash-tags, Re-tweeting (RT) and conversing, isn’t that good? don't clap for me yet....lols!

I will ‘whet your appetite’ by giving bits of what I learnt from the item I read, READY?

So as not to forget- Mac-Jordan added in conclusion

“If you follow these simple rules I’m confident that conference organizers, your fellow attendees and online followers will be pleased with the results. Did I forget anything? I’m very sure; there are other wonderful ideas with LIVE-blogging from conferences/events; please share your tips and tricks and let’s keep the conversation going.” Kindly Read the full item here; http://wp.me/pKXkq-hr. You will love it!
Much thanks to Mac-Jordan for sharing and continuing to inspire young people like myself in the world of social media and activism. Looking forward to share what I learn too… *Wink*

Building Equity in Ghana!

Like the Philippines, Ghana has recently edged into the middle-income bracket, yet pockets of poverty remain there as well. An Executive Board delegation visited the West African country from 9 to 14 May to assess equity-building efforts undertaken by UNICEF – in tandem with the government and other partners.

Gail Farngalo, Counsellor to the Permanent Mission of Liberia to the UN, provided highlights of the delegation’s report to the Executive Board. Ms. Farngalo pointed out that Ghana is on track to reach the Millennium Development Goal of halving extreme poverty. It also has one of the highest primary school enrolment rates on the continent. Still, she said, many obstacles remain.
Notably, Ms. Farngalo reported that Ghana is not on track to achieve MDGs 5 and 7, which call for reducing maternal mortality and expanding access to safe water and sanitation, respectively. She said the draft country programme for UNICEF Ghana would seek to close disparities in these and other critical areas in the coming years.

It also boasts dedicated look and feel and an easy swap option that lets users change SIM cards in seconds without having to turn off the phone or remove the battery. The phone comes with new Nokia Maps - local maps and places of interest are pre-installed. ‘’Unlike many touch-screen phones, there’s a slide-out keypad for fast, easy typing like your computer would,’’ he said.

General Manager, Nokia West Africa, James Rutherfoord, said that Nokia C2-03 is very affordable and competitive amongst its peers as consumers can get more of what they desire. Some offerings that users have, he said, include easy access to Facebook, applications, email, maps and the Nokia Life Tools.

He stated further, ‘’the phone delivers a great internet browsing experience through the data compression technology of the Nokia browser, which keeps the costs of surfing low and speeds up page downloads to benefit both consumers and operators’’.
Mr. Rutherford, explained that the Nokia C2-03 offers users some unique features that sets it apart from other dual sims phones. “C2-03 is the first ever touch and type dual SIM phone to feature easy swap, a feature that is unique to Nokia phones.
